Fall Auto Care Tips
Fall is officially here and it’s time to get your vehicles ready for the winter ahead. We hear this winter will be a bit worse than the last too so here are some tips to keep you from having to file any damage claims for your auto insurance. Preparation is key for prevention. Here are some of our tips to help “fall ready” your vehicle(s).
Check belts and hoses: If you don’t know how to do this, you can take them to your local mechanic to have them checked.
Check oil and fluids: Ensure you have enough oil and fluids to keep your engine running smoothly.
Check your windshield wipers: Keep your windshield clear of messy watermarks for safety while driving.
Check tire pressure: Changes in temperature will decrease tire pressure.
How’s the alignment? Does your car pull in one direction or another? This could mean that the alignment is off. Take it to your local mechanic to have it aligned.
How old is the battery? You don’t want to get stranded with a dead battery in the dead of winter. That being said, make sure to carry jumper cables in your trunk just in case.
Brake check: When was the last time you had new brake pads put on? Have a local mechanic check the condition of your brakes before winter comes.
Switch out the floor mats: Grab those rubber mats to deal with the water, snow, and slush you’ll be tracking into your car during winter.
Stock up on winter gear: Make sure to put the ice scraper in the car, a blanket, an emergency kit, and a basic tool kit.
This list is by no means exhaustive but will help you stay more prepared in the fall and winter months to avoid any damage to your vehicle. That being said, it’s time to enjoy the holiday season ahead. Happy Fall!
